LED Displays in Monitors
Monday, June 28th, 2010Whenever you use your PC or laptop, then probably you use an LCD monitor or display in it. They have prevailed the market over the last few years and were a huge improvement over the old CRT monitors. But now you can use latest discovering monitors with LED displays which are called LED monitors. They are developing rapidly and made emerging with digital technology.
The factor that differs conventional LCD and LED displays is the way which they are lighted. LCD displays are used with fluorescent lights so far that is already known clearly that they have a limited span of life. Over a period of 3 – 5 years, it is noticed that LCD display is getting dimmer. This is due to fluorescent lights used in side-lit or back-lit monitors that determinate over time and LCD displays are not designed to enable the replacement of failing lights.
That’s why LED monitors come into play. They have several qualities which makes them an improvement over LCD screens. First they simply have a long span of life as compared to their LCD predecessors when they are used as a light source in LED displays. Also, they allow LED displays to be a lot thinner and lighter in weight. This is due to fluorescent lighting that is much bulkier. LEDs, especially when used as side-lighting, allow manufacturers to manufacture more slim-line displays.
The benefits of an LED displays do not wind up here. They have some additional qualities which are an added advantage to owning one. As LED lighting uses less power than fluorescent lighting, LED monitors can consume up to 40% less power as a result. That is the big reason why they are widely used in laptops to improve their battery life.
